On a pleasant Sunday stroll, through Uptown Charlotte, we were treated to gospel music in front of Il Grande Disco at Independence Square in Uptown Charlotte. The art was created by Italian sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro who created four similar sculptors which can be found in Milan Italy, Chicago, PepsiCo Headquarters in Purchase NY, and Darmstadt Germany. The art has also been featured in several movies filmed in Charlotte, one of those being the 2002 film Juwanna Mann.
Part of the plaque states. “Our life today is one of crisis…of movement…of tension. We do not know what our world will become. I try to say something about this uncertainty in my work”.
This photo was taken at the intersection of Trade Street and Tyron Street. There is an interesting article at about.com.
