I noticed this message recently in the window of the Flower Child Restaurant. Apparently the message is a quote from Voltaire. I like the message and I like the calligraphy.

Following is a link to a Wikipedia article about Voltaire. In addition we are sharing a link for today’s photo saved on Flickr with the caption: A sign found in the South End near uptown Charlotte.

patio dinning

Now that we have been vaccinated, we have chosen Tuesday night as date night. In addition we try to frequent locally owned restaurants which offer outdoor dinning. Last night we enjoyed the patio at 300 East which is one of our favorites. Connie had Salmon and I enjoyed a shrimp panini sandwich.

Flower Child

The Flower Child is one of our favorite restaurants however, because of the pandemic, it has been a year since we have eaten there. Fortunately they are still in business and now that we have received our vaccine shots we plan to enjoy a meal on their patio. Afterwards we may even relax in a yellow chair.

Note that yellow is a theme along the Rail Trail in Charlotte. Following is a link to internet images of yellow along the Rail Trail. Ruby Sunshine

Another popular restaurant is Rudy Sunshine which brings “Big Easy” twist on breakfast and brunch classics. As the photo shows Rudy Sunshine is located at 332 West Bland Street in the Southend of Charlotte. They are proud of their address :)

Zoom in, on the photo, and you will see there is a line out of the door. Their website explains that for safety customers must wait outside until their table is ready. And the tables are spaced six feet apart. In addition, they have a large covered patio with additional outdoor seating.

brunch

Today’s photo shows an outdoor brunch at Lincoln Street Kitchen & Cocktails. This scene can be found in the Southend of Charlotte. The weather is still a little cool so a fire pit would be nice. As the weather continues to improve, brunch on the roof would be interesting.

Asbury Restaurant

This photo shows the outdoor seating at the Asbury restaurant. On Sunday we enjoyed brunch at the Asbury and the meal was great as always. In my opinion the Asbury is the best restaurant in Charlotte. And based on their awards others agree as well.

Personally, I think you can identify great restaurants when they share the chefs name. At the Asbury, Mike Long is the executive chef and Miranda Brown is the pastry chef.

Following is a link to The Asbury website. They are located at 235 N. Tryon.

Brunch

We took a last minute decision to eat Sunday brunch at 300 East which is a very popular restaurant. So popular that reservation are needed. Fortunately, eating at the bar is first come first serve.

My breakfast was a northern Italian dish; with sausage, crispy kale, and an egg fried in olive oil.

Following is a link to 300 East Restaurant which is as the name implies, at 300 East Boulevard.

Barns on display

We eat at the Ashbury because they have great food. That and we like their bar.

But today there was an extra treat of art by Fonda Doerre. Personally I was very impress with her paintings of barns.

This photo was taken at 235 North Tryon. Following is a link to the Ashbury Restaurant website. Following is a link to an article about Chef Matthew Krenz winning Chef of the Year award. The best in the state.
