Today is theme day in the City Daily Photo community and our contribution comes from the NASCAR Hall of Fame. This is the Jeans Machine sponsored by Wrangler and driven by Dale Earnhardt. Given NASCAR is Our (Charlotte’s) Sport I thought of a photo showing a little history from our a sport powered by powerful cars was in order.
I took this photo because the QR code intrigued me. Is it possible to snap a photo while driving past; them zoom in and use the QR code to link to the site advertised? Turns out zooming in does not work however I was able to point my iPhone camera at a copy of the photo and use the QR code as a link.
I also wanted to share the excitement around the big reveal of the inaugural 2022 Charlotte FC kit.
Today’s photo shows the Honeywell building and the Bank of America stadium in uptown Charlotte. The Honeywell website says the “The Future Is What We Make It” which I feel is a very positive approach to life. I really like the brand that Honeywell uses and if I were not so close to retirement I would be looking for job opportunities at Honeywell.
From a photography perspective; I especially like how the evening sun light highlights the parking garage in front of the Honeywell building. That and the trees with Fall foliage.
Today’s photo shows the Nascar Hall of Fame in uptown Charlotte. The sign in the middle says “This is our sport. This is our house”. With an emphases on the word “our”. And there is a lot of reality, in the word “our” given Charlotte embraces the sport.
Today’s photo shows our empty baseball stadium, called Truist Park, in uptown Charlotte. But it will not be empty long. The first home game is scheduled for April 6th. Truist Park was previously know as BB&T Park. However, the name changed along with the bank’s name.
Personally, I think it may be a little early to open sporting events. However, I was pleased to find that the Charlotte Knights’ website explains their Covid health and safety protocols include limited capacity, social distancing, and mask.
Note that this photo has been touched up using Photoshop. Following is a link showing the original photo which included a wire running directly through the middle of the photo. Photoshop’s healing brush removed the wire from the sky but if you look closely you can see the wire still crosses in front of the mid rise building just to the left of center.
Also, of interest. If you zoom in there is a window washing crew busy at work on about the 19 floor of the white building just right of center in the photo.
This photo was taken of the Atrium Health signs which say #ThisIsMyShot which is a hash tag photo opportunity supporting mass vaccine events held at the Bank of America stadium where the Panthers play. Bravo to Atrium Health and the Panthers.
The sun was out, the temperature were up, and the flowers were blooming. It was great to get out for a walk today. Given the pandemic we were careful to stay far away from others who were also enjoying the weather.
Not quit as fast as a NASCAR race but Ice Skating is still a thrill. Each year an ice rink is setup in front of the NASCAR Hall of Fame and a Northern experience comes to the South. It is always busy and great fun to watch.
The BB&T Ballpark in a nice addition to Uptown Charlotte … We are not big baseball fans however it will be enjoyable to be part of the crowd and we wish them success.
This photo was taken of the BB&T ballpark where the Charlotte Knights play. The map location is: 324 South Mint Street. When you open the map notice how close the baseball park is the football stadium. A basketball arena is also just a few blocks away.
