welcome

This is one of two identical artworks welcoming you to uptown Charlotte. But I am not sure if they are welcoming auto traffic or visiting UFO’s.

A little Goggle research finds that they are called the “Tyron bridge beacons” and were designed by Friedrich St. Florian Architects. An article indicates that they were creating a sense of theatrical splendor that radiates from the assembly of high rise buildings seen from the bridge,

abandon street

This sign was found next to the building shown in yesterday’s photo. This is an unusual sign in that it appears they plan to close the street. Normally our streets are very busy. I assume they plan to close this street because of the green space they are developing.

hard stop

Today’s photo shows brake marks from a hard stop in Uptown Charlotte. The photo also shows a couple strolling on a cold winter day and, looking closely, one can find friends enjoying a walk in the park. As such, I use today’s photo as a metaphor for life during the pandemic. A lot of what we love has stopped. However, love goes on.
